Project Chronology
Planning for a new state of the art hospital to serve the fast growing South Georgian Bay region is a journey. The following chronology provides an overview and sequencing of the major project milestones and events that have occurred to-date:
MARCH 31, 2023 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital submits its Stage 1.3 (formerly Stage 2) plan to the Ministry of Health. The submission includes the functional program, block diagrams, and an updated cost estimate.
MARCH 23, 2023 - The Hospital Development Committee shared its final report with the Board of Directors who voted unanimously to approve the Stage 1.3 (formally Stage 2) submission.
NOVEMBER 22, 2022 - Infrastructure Ontario's November 2022 Market Update indicates the tendering process for the new hospital will start in late 2025 and construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
JANUARY 13, 2022 - Infrastructure Ontario's January 2022 Market Update indicates the tendering process for the new hospital will start in late 2024 and construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.
AUGUST 13, 2021 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital selects Agnew Peckham to be the prime consultant to complete Stage 1.3 (formally Stage 2) deliverables.
AUGUST 10, 2021 - Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott announced $15 million to fund ongoing planning of a new state-of-the-art hospital for the South Georgian Bay region, moving the Hospital's project to Stage 1.3 (formally Stage 2).
APRIL 8, 2021 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is listed as a new project in Infrastructure Ontario's April 2021 Market Update indicating the tendering process for the new hospital will start in early 2023 and construction scheduled to begin in 2024.
MARCH 24, 2021 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) was highlighted in the 2021 Provincial Budget as a prioritized hospital development project.
NOVEMBER 15, 2019 - A request for proposal (RFP) was issued for for the completion of Stage 1.3 (formally Stage 2) planning work, including the development of a functional program and block diagrams. This RFP award was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
APRIL 26, 2019 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital submits its refreshed Stage 1.2 (formerly Stage 1) plan to the Ministry of Health. The submission includes revisions to the master program, master plan and business case.
AUGUST 10, 2018 - The Ministry of Health requests an update to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital's Stage 1.2 (formally Stage 1) submission.
FEBRUARY 12, 2018 - The Ministry of Health announced a $500,000 planning grant to offset initial planing costs for the hospital as part of Stage 1.2 (formally Stage 1) planning.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 - The County of Simcoe announced the Hospital would receive $20 million over the next 15 years to form part of the Hospital's local share requirement.
DECEMBER 1, 2016 - The North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network Board approved the Hospital's Stage 1A report.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2016 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital submits its Stage 1.2 (formerly Stage 1) plan to the Ministry of Health. The submission includes the master program, master plan and business case.
SEPTEMBER 29, 2016 - The Hospital Development Committee shared its final report with the Board of Directors who voted unanimously to approve the Stage 1.2 (formally Stage 1) submission.
JANUARY 30, 2015 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital selects Stantec Architecture to be the prime consultant to complete Stage 1.2 (formally Stage 1) deliverables.
OCTOBER 16, 2014 - A request for proposal (RFP) was issued for for the completion of Stage 1.2 (formally Stage 1) planning work, including the development of a master program, master plan and business case.
APRIL 2014 - Collingwood General and Marine Hospital launched a new strategic plan with focus to sustain the future of our Hospital. As part of this focus, a commitment to initiating hospital development planning was established through the development of a master plan and master program.
